Today the University of Surrey’s 5G Innovation Centre demonstrated an autonomous vehicle from its 5G test-bed.

The 5GIC joined its partners, Huawei, Vodafone and Technical University of Munich to show a fully operational Audi Q7 located on the Stag Hill campus in Guildford being operated from a control panel in the London ExCeL conference centre – all of this made possible thanks to the power of 5G.

The demonstration is part of the 8th Global Mobile Broadband Forum, hosted by Huawei, its industry partners GSMA and GTI, and takes place on 15 and 16 November. At the Forum, 5GIC, Huawei and Vodafone also showcase a range of innovations, including a world’s first demonstration of 5G-enabled stream of holographic content.
